BOOK SALES<\/p>\n
The December “First Friday” book sale for CFOL members only will take place Friday, December 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.\u00a0 Join your fellow CFOL members in a leisurely browse of the many books and other materials offered at very economical prices.<\/p>\n
Regular book sales open to the general public will resume on Saturday, December 2 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the library’s meeting room. \u00a0Books are also available for sale in the library’s lobby whenever the library is open. \u00a0There are no better bargains for book lovers.\u00a0 All book sale items will receive a 50% discount on the weekend of December 1 and 2.\u00a0 Due to the holiday schedule, the last book sale of 2017 will be Saturday, December 16.<\/p>\n
SUNDAY MOVIES<\/p>\n
On each\u00a0Sunday afternoon the Chico branch library shows family-friendly movies at 2:00 p.m. in the library’s meeting room. \u00a0These are free and open to the public. \u00a0 Your CFOL has provided the funding for a license for these showings.\u00a0 Enjoy an\u00a0entertaining afternoon movie alongside friends, neighbors, and other library patrons courtesy of CFOL.<\/p>\n
CONSTRUCTION FOR “MAKER SPACE”\u00a0HAS BEGUN<\/p>\n
Preliminary construction of the much anticipated Maker Space has begun in Oroville.\u00a0 At the completion of this phase, the structure will be moved to Chico for installation and finishing touches.\u00a0 \u00a0Your CFOL will make significant contributions to the new “Maker Space” to be built in the center of the library. \u00a0Devices such as\u00a03-D printers, a button maker, sewing machines, typewriters, and an Ellison die-cut machine will be available for public use. \u00a0There will also be space for\u00a0tutoring, book discussions, Fandom Club, computer lab and other programs. \u00a0Your CFOL\u00a0will purchase materials as well as storage cabinets and work surfaces, while Butte County will construct the surrounding walls. \u00a0Talk to library staff to share your\u00a0ideas for additional devices and programs.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, come to the library for a demonstration and hands-on experience with the Chico branch’s new Virtual Reality equipment! \u00a0Demonstrations will be held on Tuesdays throughout December from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.\u00a0 While the initial VR equipment was purchased with a grant, your CFOL provides additional funding for software and accessories.<\/p>\n
