{"id":418,"date":"2017-12-31T14:26:22","date_gmt":"2017-12-31T22:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chicolibrary.org\/blog\/?p=418"},"modified":"2018-01-12T15:01:26","modified_gmt":"2018-01-12T23:01:26","slug":"january-update-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.chicolibrary.org\/blog\/2017\/12\/31\/january-update-2\/","title":{"rendered":"January Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HOLIDAY CLOSURE<\/p>\n<p>All branches of the Butte County Library will be closed on Saturday, January 13 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.\u00a0 Regular library hours and schedule will resume on Sunday, January 14.<\/p>\n<p>BOOK SALES<\/p>\n<p>The January &#8220;First Friday&#8221; book sale for CFOL members only will take place Friday, January 5 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the library&#8217;s meeting room.\u00a0 Join your fellow CFOL members in a leisurely browse of the many books and other materials offered at very economical prices.<\/p>\n<p>Regular book sales open to the general public will resume on Saturday, January 6 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the library&#8217;s meeting room.\u00a0 All book sale items will receive a 50% discount on Saturday, January 20.<\/p>\n<p>Books are also available for sale\u00a0 in the library&#8217;s lobby at fifty cents per item whenever the library is open. \u00a0There are no better bargains for book lovers.<\/p>\n<p>SUNDAY MOVIES<\/p>\n<p>On each\u00a0Sunday afternoon the Chico branch library shows family-friendly movies at 2:00 p.m. in the library&#8217;s meeting room. \u00a0These movies are free and open to the public. \u00a0 Your CFOL has provided the funding for a license for these showings.\u00a0 Enjoy an\u00a0entertaining afternoon movie alongside friends, neighbors, and other library patrons courtesy of CFOL.<\/p>\n<p>CONSTRUCTION FOR &#8220;MAKER SPACE&#8221;\u00a0HAS BEGUN<\/p>\n<p>The Chico branch library&#8217;s Maker Space has begun to take shape in the center of the library&#8217;s main room.\u00a0 Your CFOL will make significant contributions to this new resource.\u00a0 Devices such as\u00a03-D printers, a button maker, sewing machines, typewriters, and an Ellison die-cut machine will be available for public use. \u00a0There will also be space for\u00a0tutoring, book discussions, Fandom Club, computer lab and other programs. \u00a0Your CFOL\u00a0will purchase materials as well as storage cabinets and work surfaces, while Butte County is constructing the surrounding walls. \u00a0Talk to library staff to share your\u00a0ideas for additional devices and programs.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, come to the library for a demonstration and hands-on experience with the Chico branch&#8217;s new Virtual Reality equipment!
