All book sale items will be half price at the sales of April 6 and 7!<\/p>\n
The April “First Friday” book sale for CFOL members only will take place Friday, April 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.\u00a0 Join your fellow CFOL members in a leisurely browse of the many books and other materials offered at very economical prices.<\/p>\n
Regular book sales open to the general public will resume on Saturday, April 7 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the library’s meeting room.<\/p>\n
Books are also available for sale\u00a0 in the library’s lobby at fifty cents per item whenever the library is open. \u00a0There are no better bargains for book lovers.<\/p>\n

CFOL MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS<\/p>\n
In recent months CFOL has received $7000 in new and renewed memberships.\u00a0 These funds, along with proceeds from book sales,\u00a0 provide\u00a0new materials, equipment, and programs for the use and enjoyment of library patrons.\u00a0 Join your CFOL or renew your membership today, either in person at the library or online at\u00a0http:\/\/www.chicolibrary.org\/index.php\/donate<\/a>.<\/p>\n SUNDAY MOVIES<\/p>\n On each\u00a0Sunday afternoon the Chico branch library shows family-friendly movies at 2:00 p.m. in the library’s meeting room. \u00a0These movies are free and open to the public. \u00a0 Your CFOL has provided the funding for a license for these showings.\u00a0 Enjoy an\u00a0entertaining afternoon movie alongside friends, neighbors, and other library patrons courtesy of CFOL.<\/p>\n CONSTRUCTION FOR “MAKER LAB”\u00a0CONTINUES<\/p>\n The Chico branch library’s Maker Space has been officially designated the Maker Lab.\u00a0 Your CFOL is making significant contributions to this new resource.\u00a0 Devices such as\u00a03-D printers, a button maker, sewing machines, typewriters, and an Ellison die-cut machine will be available for public use. \u00a0There will also be space for\u00a0tutoring, book discussions, Fandom Club, computer lab and other programs. \u00a0Your CFOL\u00a0will purchase materials as well as storage cabinets and work surfaces, while Butte County is constructing the surrounding walls. \u00a0Talk to library staff to share your\u00a0ideas for additional devices and programs.<\/p>\n In the meantime, come to the library for a demonstration and hands-on experience with the Chico branch’s new Virtual Reality equipment! \u00a0Demonstrations will be held on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.\u00a0 While the initial VR equipment was purchased with a grant, your CFOL provides additional funding for software and accessories.\u00a0 Additional grants have also been received for new equipment.\u00a0 Virtual reality experiences are now taking place in the maker space.\u00a0 The 3-D printers are also located in this area.<\/p>\n An official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Maker Lab will take place upon completion.<\/p>\n And there is no need to wait for the completion of the Maker Lab to receive help with graphic design projects.\u00a0 Drop in to a new weekly group meeting on Tuesdays, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. for help with computer design of logos, posters, flyers, business cards, and more.\u00a0 Click\u00a0here<\/a> for more information.\u00a0 This group is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n AMAZON PURCHASES AID CHICO FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY<\/p>\n Making a purchase from amazon.com?\u00a0 Consider designating Chico\u00a0Friends of the Library as your charitable organization to receive a percentage of the sales amount from Amazon.\u00a0 For a description of the program and FAQs see\u00a0\u00a0https:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/about.<\/a><\/p>\n Helpful information includes:<\/p>\n “On your first visit to AmazonSmile,\u00a0smile.amazon.com<\/a>, you need to select a charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping.
