Chico Branch Library

The Chico Branch of the Butte County Library took a budget hit from the Chico City Council today (June 16, 2009).

The City Council reduced its library funding by about $40,000.

Chico Branch Library hours have been reduced again.

(The final City Council budget vote is July 7th. The June 16th vote was on a motion to accept the City Manager's recommendations.)

What does CFOL do to help?  Roughly, CFOL provides $50,000 for books, audio, periodicals, newspapers, etc.  Each year it amounts to more with different needs that arise.  For example last year we contributed $12,000 for a survey and $3,500 for wireless connectivity.

See the News page for the latest CFOL news.  See the Volunteer! page for volunteer opportunities.  See the Calendar of Events for upcoming events and book sale schedule.

Chico Friends of the Library is an association of persons interested in promoting the services and needs of the Chico Branch of the Butte County Library, and this is their website.
